How does Laser Hair Removal work?
Laser hair removal treatment works by destroying the hair follicle itself. Some machines can not be used on all skin tones so it is important to have a consultation and patch test before you book your laser hair removal treatment

How does the LightSheer Duet Machine work?
At Laserpod our high-speed LightSheer Duet produces a beam of highly concentrated light onto the hair. this light is absorbed by the pigment located in your hair follicle. The laser will pulse for a millisecond which allows your hair to absorb the light which heats it up damaging the hair shaft. This damage to the hair shaft and bulb is what prevents the hair from coming back During the procedure, the laser pulses for a fraction of a second, allowing the hair to absorb the light and heat up. This laser treatment can only target hair that is in an active growth stage so you will need at least six treatments to see good results.

Why do you use the LightSheer Duet machine?
Aside from the great results the LightSheer Duet machine is comparatively painless, allows you to be treated more quickly, and offers the least regrowth. When Laser hair removal technology was first introduced sessions were lengthy, painful and carried a high risk of regrowth. The LightSheer Duet machine changed all of this. Unlike past technology, the LightSheer duet machine effectively targets hairs with minimal discomfort.

How long will treatment take?
Laser hair removal can last anything from a few minutes to an hour, depending on how many areas you are having treated. We will discuss how many treatments you may need and the results you can expect, during your consultation and let you know how each treatment will take.

When will I see the results?
This really varies between clients. Some say they see results immediately but most of our clients tend to notice results by around the third session.

Does it hurt?
The LightSheer machine is one of the most painless treatments available The sensation feels a bit like prickling. Depending on the colour and density of the hair, it feels like a warm pulse at worse it’s often likened to a rubber band being flicked. One of the major advantages of the light sheer duet machine is the treatment times. The light sheer duet machine can treat large areas such as the back and chest in 20 minutes or under! The Light sheer Duet is one of the least painful lasers on the market.

Who is suitable for Laser Hair Removal?
Laser hair removal with the Lightsheer duet machine can treat sensitive skin and white and Asian skin types.

How does laser hair removal work?
Laser is attracted to the pigment in the hair (brown or black). This will cause the hair to heat up and cause damage to the papilla (root) and blood supply, inhibiting regrowth.

How many treatments will I need?
This depends on skin colour, hair colour, hair density and hormones. The average is 6-9 treatments.

How often do I need to come?
We see you around every 6 weeks for body areas and 4 weeks for the face.

Can I tan?
We advise that you refrain from sun exposure for 14 days pre a post-treatment. You can tan in between this time but the more tanned you are (darker the skin) the lower the energy is used, so can slow down the overall result.

Will I be red after treatment
Mostly no. some of the thicker areas can be a bit red for up to 24 hours, no more than waxing.

Can I shave between treatments?
Yes but try to avoid waxing or plucking and don’t shave right before treatments

Is there anything I will need after treatment?
We recommend a smoothing cream such as aloe vera gel. Very few clients experience any sensitivity at all but if you do this should last no more than 24 hours.

Can I go on holiday?
It is really important when having laser treatment not to have any sunburn or damage. We advise not having laser treatments for 8 weeks around any planned holidays. If you are going on holiday during this time you need to ensure all treated areas have a good quality sun block applied to protect your skin.

How long do results last?
Laser Hair Removal can never 100% guarantee that you will be hair-free for life. However, using the LightSheer Duet we have found 95% of clients experience permanent hair removal after their treatment with just a fraction coming back often years later to treat small areas of regrowth. If you do need to return these should be for quick top-up sessions to maintain results.

I was recommended Lightsheer Duet machine by a friend of mine and having done my research about I found Laserpod clinic on Google. As Laserpod already had had great reviews I decided to book a consultation.I met Siobhan and I quickly realised she really does know what she’s doing and she is very patient! She has both a wealth of experience as well as depth of knowledge about her profession. I normally ask a lot of questions when it comes to any skin/body treatments as I’m very concerned about possible skin issues and I really appreciated how reassuring, helpful and knowledgeable she was.I have been doing laser hair removal at Laserpod since mid 2020. Each appointment has been conducted in a very efficient, professional, and at the same time caring and gentle manner. I have now done several areas (full legs, armpits, bikini, upper lip) and I see a massive difference. Siobhan is absolutely brilliant, and she has ensured I’ve achieved the skin results I was after.
